Chrome’s virtual independent Tab system

Ok guys, I’m back a little sooner then expected.

One of the things that really stood out from my first tests is the stability issue of
Chrome’s. Not only is it pretty had to crash, but when it does, the entire browser never crashes, only the tabs that created the problem/conflict. This happens because the system was engineered in such a way that each tab holds its own environment, completely independent from each other, which means that one tab will supposedly never mess up what you are doing in another tab.

I tried crashing the browser by throwing at it some pretty funky Javascript challenges and all I managed to do was to block a single tab that in fact did not affect the other tabs to a full extent, which means that although it did not affect the stability of the other tabs, I felt that somehow it slightly affected the level of performance of the unaffected tabs.

Also, the Browsers seems to have some difficulty handling webpages that embed and call a lot of external code, even through Javascript. This isn’t a new limitation since Firefox has the same problem.

Will continue to test things out and keep you posted.

A very sad goodbye to Randy Pausch

A dear friend of mine just told me that Randy Pausch passed passed away today.

I was overcome with sadness when I heard the news, of course that it was unexpected but judging from the spirit of that Man one always had a tiny bit of hope that somehow he could make it.

Bellow is that famous last lecture by Randy Pausch.

Blog Redesign in progress

As you might have noticed I reverted my blog to the standard wordpress Design.
The reason I did this is because I am working on a new design that will hopefully be launched sometime next week.

Top Affiliate Challenge Episode 1 review

Just finished watching the first episode of Top Affiliate Challenge.

I must say I was a bit disapointed with the production side of things, but if they manage to improve on this area the show can be really great.

Was also a bit surprised to see everyone having their say in the “team room”, and then see John Cow was completely “skiped”. What was that all about? It was pretty much the only person in that particuylar group that I was looking foward to listening.

A lot of acting going on too, and I feel that If people acted more naturally, and stopped trying to be someone else for the camreas the show would have a different flow.

But all and all, exciting beggining and I wont be missing the next episodes.

Positives

  • Good audio quality
  • Shoemoney! Very relaxed, cool, a breath of fresh air.
  • Good audio quality
  • John Cow, great to know that he is there
  • John Cow V.S Shoemoney
  • ThePepper jam team! They looked so sissy.. but don’t know why I loved them!
  • Negatives

  • Visual aspect needs improving
  • Audio/Music doesn’t seems a bit “misplaced”
  • People don’t have “tags” with their name when they are talking. Would make it much easier to know who they are.
  • There is no such thing as Total Creative Freedom

Oh the sweet taste of freedom, the idea that you can sit and relax and let your inner most creative ideas take over and create something beautiful, what could be better right?

You are the professional, I’ll leave the creative choices to you

    Yeah Right.

I tell you what, here is what they are really saying is:

I am too damn lazy to brief you on what I really want, so taking into considerationt he fact that I am paying you, who knows, you might have extraterrestrial telepathic abilities and use them to find out what I want.

Oh oh and of course don’t worry, if you don’t get things right, you can always start again from scratch, but hurry up, as you have some time to gain considering you just wasted my precious time with your..crazy insane ALIEN ideas!
    .

    For god’s sake!!!!

There is no such thing as total create freedom, PERIOD!

Either you know what you want or you don’t. If you don’t know what you want that’s fine, let’s try and figure that out before I/we commit time to create something out of thin air.

Now that that’s out of my system! Hi guys, great to be posting again! :D

    Sort it out Diggers!

This is something that has been bugging me for quite some time.

Over and over again I see stories reaching Diggs home page that simply redirect to a 404 Page or a “bandwidth quota exceeded” message.

Hosting isn’t that expensive you know? As a matter of fact it’s much harder to make it on digg’s homepage then it is to get a reliable Hosting service at a low price.

    Traffic is Money!!

At least for some of us. If you’ve made Digg’s homepage, and couldn’t care less about the traffic, or just can’t be bothered to pay 10 bucks for a decent hosting account, please don’t hesitate to contact me, I’ll gladly provide you with proper hosting facilities that will accommodate your content and my ads.

Never ever take Zinc on an empty stomach’

That’s right boys and girls, Zinc is toxic, it’s not one of those wussy supplements that people like myself take on a daily basis. *Not disputing my manhood of course… Man can take dietary supplements..right? *cough* let’s move on shall we? :D

I need to take a zinc supplement for a deficiency that caused by my Thyroid problem, so today having gotten up a bit later then usual I didn’t have time to take my breakfast, so seeing as I had to take supplements, what the hell! Bottoms up! 50mm of Zinc in the belly!

NOT very smart! 30 minutes later it was as if I was taken by the black plague and there was nothing that could help me! nausea, Diarrhea, awful abdominal pain, dizziness, short black out periods (although that is not that unusual to me! :D), shortness of breath, among other lovely symptoms! So it seems that Zinc is so toxic, that when you take it with an empty stomach the toxicity sticks to your stomach’s walls, had taken a higher dose I would be officially poisoned.

    Blog posts 404 error *again*

Dear oh dear, seems that we are experiencing the same issues we did last time with the Blog posts. Thank you for reporting this Robert, we are going to take a look at it right away.

Open for business in August - Never again

This year me and my partner decided not to close the office in August, since there seemed to be a lot of action going on, Lot’s of deals being negotiated, internal developments, and other stuff as well.

I can safely tell you that this is the last year we are doing this. Most of the deals didn’t close simply because the prospect decision makers were on vacation.

Everywhere we turned people were off work, every time we tried to get things done we would get he same answer “come back september”.

People looked at us like there was something seriously wrong with us. “… but…it’s August!!”

For God’s sake, I know it’s August, so ****** what?!?

    Posts outputing a 404

Just to tell you that I am aware that the blog is having a lot of issues at the moment, one of them being that the blog posts are outputing a “404 page not found” error.

Me nad my programmer are adressing this and hopefully we will have it all sorted in a couple of hours.

Update: This issue has now been resolved.

My eyes hurt Darren - Problogger’s new Design

I just noticed that Problogger has a new design, and dear oh dear…

Is “overall ugliness” some sort of a trend right now? In the early nighties that rugged unclean look was “the look”, so I’m guessing this is cyclic.

What’s up with this Technorati look? Is it just me or that font is just hard to read and in all fairnness, ugly as hell?

By the way thank you David Naylor for starting the trend with the splendrous redesign of your Blog.

Added new features to the blog

My very patient programmer Cody Robert added a couple of very neat features to the blog that make it more user and Search Engine friendly.

I’m going to create more specific categories for the SEO posts, so things might look a bit messy until I’m done.

Here is the list of stuff that was added:

    • Nested categories divided by Groups
    • Removed the “Category” default slang from the Home Category Links
    • Added the Digg button
    • Added the Word Press Poll system

The K2 Nested categories features is particular valuable since K2 doesn’t offer this our of the box and I haven’t seen this work well in any other blog.

In a day or two I might post the hack for anyone who is interested.
